Kirsten Corley and Chance the Rapper are splitting up. The 30-year-old artist and his ex-partner, who started dating in 2013 and ended it in 2019, announced their separation on Instagram on Wednesday.

A statement that was uploaded to Chance’s Instagram stories said, “The two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways after a period of separation. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.”
The couple still intends to co-parent their two children, according to the statement. It reads “God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you.”
Chance the Rapper’s representatives choose not to respond. Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, claimed to have met Corley for the first time at the age of nine. They broke up in 2016 after dating for three years and had their first daughter in 2015.
Following their divorce, Corley filed to be deemed the “sole caretaker” of their daughter; however, she withdrew the application as soon as she and Bennett got back together in early 2017. Following that, in 2018, they became engaged, got married in 2019, and later that year, they welcomed their second daughter.
Chance’s 2019 album The Big Day was a concept album about the couple’s wedding day, and it included a key recurrent thematic thread about their love. His song “Finish Line/Drown” from the 2016 Coloring Book has lyrics like “We in a marathon we could build a marriage on/Me and my girl plan to stay to the end/Hope there never come a day where we are better as friends,” and “Blessings” from the same mixtape also talks about their relationship.
Chance recently hinted at a new album on social media called Star Line Gallery. He stated that the project would be out in the spring of 2024, but no official release date has been given. The rapper is also now judging NBC’s The Voice for his second season.
