The actor claimed they had “parallel, separate lives” because she lived on the East Coast with her children, and he predominantly lived on the West Coast in California. Because of this, they “rarely saw each other.”

Hart and Underwood have been friends for years, they didn’t walk the red carpet together until November 2022. Before the 50th International Emmy Awards in New York City, Hart and Underwood posed for pictures while grinning broadly.
In addition to making their red carpet debut at the International Emmys, Hart and Underwood made their first significant public appearance as an engaged couple. After their arrival, the actor posted a photo of himself with his “new fiancée” and referred to it as a “personal highlight” of his life.
The couple made another public appearance in March at New York City’s 2023 Roundabout Gala. They matched one another’s black attire as they posed for pictures on the red carpet.
