Melanie Martin, who was on and off with the late singer Aaron Carter, has full custody of her 1-year- 3 Month old son, Prince, whom she shared with Carter.
A representative for Martin, who is 30 years old, told Tmz that the decision was made after a court hearing on Thursday in Los Angeles. The decision was made while the Instagram model was in New York, but her legal team called her with the news.
Martin’s representative says that she is on her way to California to get her son and that she is “extremely happy and eager” to see him.
Prince was given to Martin’s mother to take care of after his parents lost custody of him, reportedly because of their drug use and violence at home.
Martin told Tmz, “I’m honouring Aaron today, and I know he would be so proud of me.” “It makes me sad to think we could have been a family, but Aaron would be so happy to know I got him back.”
Jane Carter, the mother of the former child star, told the outlet that she was happy with the court’s decision to give Prince back to Martin.
She said, “The child should be with the mother.”
Jane told Tmz earlier this month that she hasn’t met Prince yet, but she wants him to get all of his dad’s money. She said that her famous family, which includes Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, “doesn’t need the money.”
After Aaron’s tragic death in his bathtub at age 34 on November 5, Jane asked Aaron’s twin daughter Angel to file a petition to be his estate’s administrator.
Even though the “I Want Candy” singer died without a will, his son would most likely get his personal property and real estate portfolio, which is said to be worth around $500,000, according to California succession laws.
Martin, who had to leave the home she shared with Aaron in California, said what she thought about it last month.
“I don’t want any problems or stress over Aaron’s estate,” Martin told Us Weekly, adding that she didn’t “want any bad blood” with his relatives.
“All I want is for Prince to be taken care of and for Aaron’s work to continue… Anyone who wants to be in Prince’s life can be in Prince’s life.
