Two Years After The Ban On PUBG, India Blocks The Battle Royale Game BGMI

The Indian government prohibits Krafton’s Battlegrounds Mobile India in a similar action to that of 2020. (BGMI). On July 28, 2022, Google and Apple, both owned by Alphabet Inc., removed the Krafton game under Indian government orders. This change occurs a year after the nation outlawed the popular video game PUBG.

The Indian government reportedly said on Friday that it has banned the royal battle-ground type game under section 69A of the Indian IT code, restricting public content access among other grounds in the interest of national security.

Since 2020, the Indian government has prohibited more than 100 Chinese apps, including PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds from the Chinese developer Tencent Games (PUBG).

Tencent’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), which just exceeded 100 million registered users in India, has an Indian version called BGMI. A year ago, in response to the intense demand of the players, the Krafton game was revived in India as BGMI.

One of the most popular Chinese apps, BGMI, was rebranded and relaunched on September 2, 2020, following the Indian government’s ban on PUBG mobile.

More than 270 apps have been blocked by the Indian government so far because they may have been used to steal Indian users’ data and give it to Chinese organizations.

While their rival applications tried to come in and fill the hole left by others, several of these apps returned to India with new branding and identities.

Garena has also released the Garena Free Fire Max after the ban of Garena Free Fire, much like the PUBG and BGMI, New State for Indian gamers.
