Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Plot: Spoiler

When we last watched Mob, the epic battle between Toichiro Suzuki and the Claw resulted in a rise of the Divine Tree in Spice City. As sudden as the giant broccoli appeared, so did cults seeking to worship the anomaly.

Reigen resumes his work at the agency with the assistance of umbrella-carrying Katsuya Serizawa, but poor Mob is at a loss for what to do with himself. The mob is aware that girls are beginning to take notice of him, and he allows that attention to go to his head.

Attracted by news reports about the Divine Tree, a yokai hunter named Haruaki Amakusa travels to Spice City in search of the Hyakki, a spiritual monster organization.

While Amakusa is not an ESPer, he is sensitive to yokai and channels the spirit of Mumbo Jump while wielding a sword. Regrettably, he is not that powerful, as it can take him three days to defeat a yokai.

Reigen, Mob, and Serizawa decide to assist Amakusa in destroying the yokai HQ. They face the Great Yokai King there, and the energy emitted by this defeated yokai is absorbed by the Divine Tree.

This is unfortunate, as Mob and Reigen eventually discover that the growing broccoli tree’s roots are slowly devouring Spice City.

The mob is eventually persuaded to become the Psycho Helmet cult’s leader, but before he can introduce himself, an imposter makes his debut. The mob is envious of the praise and attention lavished on the imposter, but it isn’t long before he realizes something is wrong with the Divine Tree worshippers.

As it turns out, the Psycho Helmet cult used a powder made from giant broccoli to brainwash its followers. Mob and Reigen decide to destroy the Divine Tree, but the person manipulating the Psycho Helmet cult from the shadows sickens them with brainwashed hordes.

This individual attempts to convince the Mob to unite and rule as Lord Psycho Helmet. The mob is almost tempted when it is suggested that Tsubomi Takane, Mob’s crush, will be more receptive to his confession of love.

This conflict becomes philosophical due to opposing ideals and ethics, but it also becomes physical when an army of Psycho Helmet clones descends on Mob.

Worse yet, the Divine Tree has developed sentience and is attempting to consume Mob! Mob is only saved from being devoured by an act of self-sacrifice, and the giant broccoli eventually flies away.

Following the Divine Tree incident, everyone in Spice City experienced mass amnesia, causing them to forget what had occurred.

What follows is not easily forgotten. Tome, the Telepathy Club’s leader, is disappointed that her club has failed to create memorable moments, and the apathy displayed by its members brings her to tears.

Everyone agrees to assist Tome in telepathically communicating with actual aliens. They have such a good time that they end up having a party on an alien ship, and one human even visits the alien homeworld!

Finally, the ultimate threat to Earth does not come from ESPers, aliens, or supernatural beings attempting world dominance.

Mob’s ultimate threat comes from his fears of being rejected by his pre-ex-girlfriend Tsubomi. A tragic event unleashes??? percent on the world, and this monstrous force goes on the prowl in search of Tsubomi.
