With its gripping story, the animated series Arcane debuted in November 2021 and quickly became a smash hit for Netflix (and one hell of a cliffhanger ending).
Since then, fans (and us) have been eager to learn everything we can about the show’s future, season two, and beyond.
Thankfully, we now have some answers, and while we know it will be a bit of a wait, we know it will be worth it.
Arcane, set in Riot Games’ League of Legends universe, tells the origin stories of characters from Piltover, a utopian city, and Zaun, a repressed undercity, including sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell).
Steinfeld, of course, has since joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop, a young want to be superhero Hawkeye takes under his wing. She was also praised for her performance in Dickinson, in which she played the young Emily Dickinson.
Arcane season 2 release date: When will it air?
Arcane’s second season will begin production in November 2021, according to Netflix.
The original series took six years to create, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, but in a tweet, he promised that the wait for a second season wouldn’t be as long:
So yeah, we are working on #arcane season 2.
The good news: you won’t have to wait for 6 years (the time it took us to making season 1)
The bad news: it’s not coming in 2022 😢 https://t.co/IQoPyLnw1J— nicolo (@niiicolo) November 21, 2021

Arcane season 2 plot
Though there is no official plot synopsis for the second season, we can make a few educated guesses based on how the first season ended – with a massive cliffhanger.
Jayce (voiced by Kevin Alejandro) initiated a Council vote to grant Zaun independence in the ninth episode of Arcane, The Monster You Created. The vote was successful, but the Council building was hit by a rocket fired by Jinx (Ella Purnell), who was traumatized after killing Silco.
That’s how the season ended – and with tensions running high between Piltover and Zaun throughout the nine episodes, it’s highly likely that the attack on the Council building will spark more conflict and disrupt the vote for Zaun’s independence, possibly for good.
