On January 14 the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) makes their debut in St. Louis with UFC Fight Night Saint Louis at the Scottrade Center. UFC Fight Night is one of their fight cards that takes place on the FS1 Network. It is the first UFC event ever to take place in St. Louis and not the last.

Missouri is a new comer in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world; but in fact, it has been present for a while now. Missouri presented its first MMA fighter in the early 2000s with Rob “The Rosedale Reaper” Kimmons. The sport growing and growing over the years has more people participating and training. More gyms have opened for MMA and Jiu-Jitsu in not only Missouri, but even in St. Louis.

The amateur circuit holds many fight events at the Family Arena. Showcasing their talent and honing their skills. The UFC Gym franchise was created in 2009. It is a gym to workout and get fit, but also to train people in MMA. A location opened 2016 in St. Charles putting St. Louis and Missouri on the map more and more.

Now, we have a big hometown hero in the UFC. Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley whom is currently the Welterweight Champion since July 2016. His record of 18-3-1 is very impressive and his fights are even more impressive. Power, technique, and a dismantling plan Woodley carries into every fight. Michael “The Menace” Johnson also is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and fans can watch him fight at this event against Darren Elkins. The main card is Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens versus Dooho “The Korean Superboy” Choi. This is an event fight fans do not want to miss.
