The UMSL Student Government Association (SGA) is now accepting applications for Executive Officers and Student Senator for the 2019-2020 year. As elected members of the Student Government Association (SGA), Executive Officers and Student Senators work in conjunction with the SGA Assembly to provide a cohesive governing body for UMSL students that advocates for the interests and concerns of UMSL students in the activities and affairs of the university. Executive Officers and Student Senators serve as the official student representatives to UMSL Administration and University Assembly Committees and work to ensure that student voices are present at all times. Executive Officers and Student Senators communicate regularly with fellow students to bring forth concerns, ideas and possible solutions to improve the UMSL experience and represent the interests of students at the university with responsibility, respect and pride. Executive Officers and Student Senators will possess strong leadership skills including, but not limited to, the ability to run and participate in effective meetings, engage students in the shared governance process, and foster collaboration with students, student organizations and other entities of the university.
The three Executive Officer positions are President, Vice-President, and Comptroller. For the role of Student Senator, up to 16 students may be elected. All positions require a minimum number of office hours worked per week, attendance at weekly & monthly SGA meetings, and participation in additional committees. For more details on the specific requirements of each position, you may visit the SGA portal on TritonSync and review the Filing form for each position. Additionally, you may contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions about the election process.
